An arcade style Atari-type joystick manufactured by Powerplay Ltd. The joystick has a smallish (12 cm by 9.5 cm) rectangular base with two large (ø 2.5 cm) fire buttons and a short stick (6.5 cm). Fire buttons trigger leaf switches but the stick's movement is interpreted by four microswitches. The stick is very comfortable, precise and robust but sadly they are not manufactured anymore since the 8- and 16-bit computers that used to support them are discontinued. With a little luck, however, you can still find these in stores selling accessories for Amiga or other computers of the same era (if you happen to live in Finland, Gentle Eye in Tampere is one of them).

Here's what the original box says about the stick:

  1. Arcade quality microswitches - For excellent reliability and speed
  2. Large dual fire buttons - For left or right hand operation
  3. 1.5 m long cord - For comfortable play
  4. Robust steel shaft - For longer life
  5. Rubber return - For long lasting smooth control
