The rendition of the Christian Bible ordered by King James I of England in 1604. It was written mainly between 1604 and 1611, with revised versions printed later. It was intended to be a more perfect consolidation, and to replace the half dozen different bibles of the time. It stands as one of the greatest written works of the English language, and is the most influential and important rendition of the Bible for modern Christians.
