A twenty eight year old aspiring actress and bartender who was murdered during a mugging on January 27, 2005 in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
DuFresne had finished drinking with her fiance and two friends when they met three muggers, one of who was carrying a firearm. The incident is notorious in part because during the confrontation DuFresne asked one of the muggers "What are you going to do now, shoot us?" and was then shot at point blank range in the chest.
Rudy Fleming, the man who murdered her, was on parole at the time and was sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole.
