I challenge you to trianglulate that World Map of yours with only 4 triangles.
Perhaps you'd rather find its Euler characteristic? Is it 2? Hm?
Or if you prefer, you could tie a string around the "equator" and just kindly slip it off the planet altogether. It's easy on the real world....
