Morbid obesity is not consistently defined but generally is accepted as 100 or more pounds over the ideal body weight. It may also be defined by the person’s BMI. A BMI of 40 or more is considered morbidly obese. Regardless of the technical definition used; morbid obesity means the person is at high risk for multiple medical disorders.

Some problems commonly seen with morbid obesity are sleep apnea, asthma, high blood pressure, Coronary Artery Disease, gallstones, GERD, back, foot, hip and knee pain, Diabetes, infertility, high cholesterol, stroke, joint degeneration, gout, increased cancer risks and early death.
