The PATH is a special subway that runs between various stops in New Jersey and Manhattan. It is operated not by the New York City MTA, but by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. It's only $1.50 per trip, and it runs 24 hours a day. One of its main advantages for commuters and travellers is that one need not pay the insane parking fees of New York City. Maps and scheduling information are available at http://www.panynj.gov
One PATH line was severely damaged after the collapse of the World Trade Center towers, forcing its closure. This disrupted an 18-month renovation project of the entire PATH system that was to complete in October 2002.
According to bookw56, this renovation is now complete.
