This past weekend was Music Hack Day in Boston. It was my first, although it's the second one in Boston and there have nearly 20 since it started two years ago. A fellow posted on the "collaborations" wiki page about an interesting idea, so I contacted him. We found three more volunteers. Two of them were Max guys. They gave us some sound samples and moved onto their own Max-specific but related project. The third guy put together some JavaScript to grab Twitter search results. I ripped apart one of Google's Web Audio API examples and bent to our fell purpose. The originator of the idea made a much nicer UI with Twitter Bootstrap.
The end result is TWScape. We didn't win any of the prizes since we didn't use any of the APIs from the people offering the prizes, but the reporter who was there from Wired liked it, and someone who was just learning to program came up to me after and said it was inspiring.
Here's the whole list of things that were made.
