Return to Drinkify (thing)
Drinkify is a silly little web app that was cooked (brewed, fermented, distilled, etc.) up for Boston Music Hack Day in 2011. It was created by Hannah Donovan and Matthew Ogle (formerly of Last.fm and now working on This Is My Jam) and Lindsay Eyink (freelance UX designer, late of the 2008 Obama campaign and Apple) during an all-night session inspired by whisky. Drinkify uses The Echo Nest API to find terms and genres to describe an artist that you suggest, then maps those words to booze, mixers, and other substances, and displays a likely disgusting concoction, accompanied by a Last.fm-supplied artist image and audio. They say the database is proprietary, but since you could look up Echo Nest data for the artists you pass in, you could certainly reverse engineer the mappings. The Johnny Cash: 4 oz. each of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey and Honey. Drinkify won the O Music Awards' "WTF I Love This" award in June of 2012. | Existing:
