name given to the
regions located below the 45th
parallel.
It includes la
Provence, but also goes until
Toulouse, which specific area is named
Midi-Pyrénées.
Midi is the
French name for
12 o'clock.
The fact that the
sun is definitely
brighter below the 45th parallel might then explain why the
Southern regions are called so.
