astragal is the proper term for the strip of
rubber or
felt-like material surrounding the edges of a door for the purpose of sealing out weather elements, air, water, or fire; or for sealing the heat or cool air into a building.
Some astragals are air or water inflated and are used for sealing out biological or chemical contaminants.
