Travel changes your brain (idea)

One great side-effect of traveling is that you notice how places (including your home) smell. You normally don't notice it because you get very used to it. But it's really yet another dimension that a place can have. Here are a few smells I encountered (of course this is subjective):

• MIT in spring and summer smells like pine chips
• Northern California in the spring smells like slightly decayedvegetation.
• Athens in the spring smells like orange blossom (something like honeysuckle).
• And New York City smells like... New York City. You'll have to go there to find out. Many neighborhoods have their own smell.
