Boxer primers are the kind that you would commonly find in a shooting or reloading supplies store nowadays. It is a self contained ignition device that has the cap, anvil, and priming compound in a package that fits into the primer pocket of an ammunition case.

It comes in two basic sizes which is small and large, yeah pretty untechnical huh, anyway, there is small pistol, large pistol, small rifle, large rifle, and shotgun primers, each with their own use.

It is different from Berdan Primers in that it is used with cases that only have one flash hole. Common reloading equipment also make it easier to decap and reload Boxer primed ammunition.

Common brands are CCI and Winchester.
