Suspect is seated in a chair, hands crossed as if bound.
Police Officer enters, looking down at a notebook.
Police Officer: Says here you're under arrest for wearing
yellow.
Suspect is silent.
Police Officer, looking over at Suspect: That's a serious crime.
Suspect remains silent.
Police Officer: Do you not realize that yellow is the colour of dandelions? Filthy weeds. They ruin our lawns.
Suspect, quietly: It is also the colour of daffodils, sir.
Police Officer: Yellow is the sign that milk is going rancid.
Suspect: Baby chicks, sir. The sign of new life.
Police Officer: Mustard.
Suspect: Egg yolk.
Police Officer, voice rising: Jaundice.
Suspect: The sun.
Police Officer, shouting: Urine!
Beat.
Suspect: My mother's hair.
Pause.
Police Officer: You're free to go.
