Large, predominantly rural county in South West England. The county town is Taunton, and the only city (in the British definition) is Wells. Other key population centres include Bridgwater and Yeovil. Home to the original Cheddar cheese, and famous for Scrumpy (a form of still, highly alcoholic cider). Somerset locals are famed for their accent, which is often immitated when people impersonate farmers. Somerset also has a successful cricket team. Somerset formerly included parts of Bristol and Bath, prior to the creation of Avon in 1972.
