Character from Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City series. Brian is living at 28 Barbary Lane at the start of the series, and working as a waiter, although he was previously a lawyer working on civil rights causes. He's obsessed with sex, and has lots of casual encounters, including one with Mona Ramsey and a couple initiated by Michael 'Mouse' Tolliver when they go out on the pull together. He falls in love with Mary Ann Singleton and they get married in hospital after he and Michael get attacked by anti-gay thugs. He later goes into partnership in a plant nursery with Michael after he and Mary Ann adopt her old schoolfriend (and one of his ex-lovers) Connie's baby. He and Mary Ann grow apart towards the end of the series when she gets too ambitious, and she leaves him in the last book.
