AMV has become a large part of the anime convention scene in recent years, with an increasing number of cons offering AMV competitions and submissions reaching into the hundreds.

By far the "biggest" con for AMV is Anime Weekend Atlanta, which is a comparatively small con that devotes a large portion of its resources to the AMV competition. AWA runs multiple levels of competition, including the Masters, available only to those who have won competitions at other conventions.
