The protagonist of Ayn Rand's novel The Fountainhead.

As often in her books, reading about him is an odd experience. In places her prose is very good, and we feel a real affection for a prickly architect who doesn't really understand people but has his own enduring vision or beauty. In others her determination to make him the complete embodiement of libertarian virtue, including a deep down true understanding of everything and everybody overwhelms her characterization.
