Don't see the attraction (poetry)

They were an odd couple, but could not help
themselves.

Sarah's friends disapproved, saying Brian was
dull and boring.

Sarah laughed, muttering under her breath:
if you only knew ...

They dated casually, then formally, and then moved in
together, off campus.

When they broke up a few years later
Sarah's friends were very much- told ya so.

But she was probably depressed, at least for a while,
like Brian was.

I don't know for sure,
not being Sarah.
