This Generation X term applies surprisingly well to the 1999-2001 period and its dot.com boom. As a recent college graduate, I've watched many of my friends go straight into miserable programming or tech support jobs with IBM, Dell, and Trilogy, because of the insane paychecks they offer. The idea is that this is a great way to build up a nest egg that will sustain one through graduate school, European travel, or the general pursuit of one's True Will.
