Samia Shoaib (person)

Samia Shoaib is a filmmaker and an actress. She was born in Pakistan and was raised in England, where she got started in acting by performing Shakespeare (IMDB, Melwani). She migrated to the United States and studied English and Theater at the University of California and George Washington University. She later completed a Masters of Fine Arts degree at Columbia University (Melwani). Her first short film, Camilla, shared second place in the college category with Red Roses by Wilnems Franklin at the 1995 World Population Film and Video Festival. She started a production company sometime between October 1995 and April 1996, and was reportedly working on a feature film called Aliyat, about "a Pakistani woman's journey back home after living abroad" (Melwani).

Samia Shoaib is more widely recognized as an actress. She studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, and has appeared on several films and TV shows, including Darren Aronofsky's π and Requiem for a Dream, The Sixth Sense, SubUrbia, and three episodes of La Femme Nikita (IMDB, Melwani). She has also performed in the theatrical productions, "The Tempest," "As You Like It," "No Exit," and "The Women" (IMDB)
