Offshoot band from the explosion of Rodan. The band has similarities to the style of Rodan, with quiet interludes and intense jaw-clenched screaming. Seems to me where Rodan would have gone if they didn't break up. June of 44 has an aquatic/navy/sailor type theme on their first three albums, Engine Takes to the Water, Tropics and Meridians, and The Anatomy of Sharks. The last two albums, Four Great Points and Anahata, have pretty much lost that theme.

The band featured Jeff Mueller, Sean Meadows, Fred Erksine, and Doug Scharin. They have since broken up to pursue other projects including The Shipping News, Rex, The Boom, and Lungfish. All the group's albums were released on Quarterstick Records.
