When I first heard this song from Hounds of Love (1985), I had to literally step back and say, "Whoa." I don't think I'd ever heard drums used in this way in a pop song before. The overlaying and the crescendos were so unique. Then, the more I listened to it, the more it gave me chillbumps.

If you want to hear a girl singing about how she feels about getting screwed over in love, check out Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill." (Please remember that you'll need to actually hear this to really get the effect.)

Let me steal this moment from you now.
C'mon, angel, c'mon, c'mon, darling,
Let's exchange the experience.
(oh-ooh)

And if I only could,
I'd make a deal with God,
And I'd get him to swap our places,
Be running up that road,
Be running up that hill,
With no problems.
