A subgenre of house music that originated in, you guessed it, France (but is generally considered an offshoot of Chicago House). French House is characterized from "regular" house as employing heavy use of filters and tight, 2 or 4-bar samples of disco, and being generally minimal in terms of instrumentation and composition. French House tends to be more electronic-sounding than other types of house music. Excellent examples of artists include Daft Punk, Cassius, Phoenix, Alan Braxe, Le Knight Club, Stardust, The Buffalo Bunch, Syndicated People, and Archigram. Labels include Roulé, Crydamoure, and Source. One need not be from France to make French House, however. One of the genre's rising stars, Linus Loves, hails from Glasgow and there are even a few Americans practicing the distinct Franco import.
