One of the best playwrights in American history, Arthur Miller was born on October 17th, 1915 in New York City. In 1949 he completed Death of a Salesman and shortly after, in 1953, he wrote The Crucible. These two are undoubtably two of the best plays in American history and all time. The second, being a thinly veiled slam on McCarthyism, lead to Miller's appearance and conviction for contempt of Congress by the House Committee on Un-American Activities. His other notable achievement was authoring the screenplay for The Misfits, starring his celebrity (second) wife, Marilyn Monroe.
