Also, the Association of Shareware Professionals, which was very popular back in the heyday of shareware. Formed in April 1987, it provides some minimal standards guidelines for member software and arbitrates disputes between consumers and members. One of the really nice things they did was forbid member software from being crippled or time bombed--software had to be fully functional without any registration.

The ASP has gone the way of shareware but it still has a website at though as of now it seems to be down. Many of the greatest shareware authors and companies were ASP members.
