One of the early employees of Apple Computer, Bill Atkinson is primarily known for his creation of QuickDraw, MacPaint and HyperCard.

QuickDraw was the foundation of both the Lisa and Macintosh user interfaces. Because of his work on this technology, he was also the principal designer of the Lisa and Macintosh user interfaces.

MacPaint was the first killer application for the Macintosh, and HyperCard was the first programming tool that many people were ever exposed to on the Mac. While there was a Microsoft BASIC available, it didn't provide the GUI capabilities that HyperCard allowed for.
