Rock Werchter
One of the biggest European rock festivals.
Other festivals: Pinkpop(nl), Pukkelpop(be), lowlands(nl), Glastonbury(uk) and Roskilde (dk).
Rockbands just skipped Belgium. Fans had to go to the Netherlands, UK or France to see their idols.
In '76, two guys got the crazy idea to organize a festival in their small village. It grew to a 2-day-2-locations event. In '98 the Torhout -location was dropped to save money.
Sold out in '01 to a multinational (SFX). SFX is now part of Clear Channel.
