I'm working ABD on two doctorates, which means I'm teaching university classes, writing a dissertation, and spending a lot of time bouncing around archives in Europe and the UK on research fellowships (Paris Oct-Dec 08, Germany, Italy, and the UK Jan-June of 09, if you're overseas and want to have a beer or something) doing a critical edition of some medieval manuscripts. I may poke back in from time to time to take things down read and stuff, but am not an active writer here. Unless someone finds a nodeshell for me that I just can't resist. ;-)
The node for power ballad is not acceptable. If someone can do it justice, I will send them a c!are package composed of a power ballad mixtape, some Chinese bootleg Buffy DVDs, strange edibles, and assorted books. Really. Looking for: an overview of the genre in its historical and musicological context, significant performers and breakaway hits in the genre, and anecdotal amplification of the importance of the genre and/or specific songs in biographical context.
