Division II of the
NCAA is comprised of 267 schools in19 conferences. A Div. II school must sponsor at least four sports for men and four for women. The school must sponsor at least two team sports for each gender. There must be a sport for each gender played in each of the playing seasons (Fall, Winter, Spring).
The school must meet certain scheduling critera for the sports. For football and men and women's basketball the school must face Div. II or Div. I opponents in at least 50% of their games. There are no scheduling requirements for any other Div. II sports.
There are no attendance requirements for any Div. II sports.
Div. II institutions cannot exceed maximum financial aid awards for each sport.
