Pla*coph"o*ra (?), n. pl. [NL., from Gr. , , tablet + to bear.] Zool.
A division of gastropod Mollusca, including the chitons. The back is covered by eight shelly plates. Called also Polyplacophora. See Illust. under Chiton, and Isopleura.
