Long-lived and respected Macintosh magazine, with an attitude halfway between the colorful and often childish light-heartedness of MacAddict and the cold seriousness of holier-than-thou MacWorld. Featured the best Mac columnists, including Andy Ihnatko and Bob LeVitus, and the most informative articles for both Mac novices and experts.

Died in October 1997, when it merged with MacWorld. The results are a slightly more user-friendly (but less significant) MacWorld and a big hole in the Mac magazine world. The diaspora of talent means that there is no longer a one-stop shop for all of a Mac user's computer interests, in either a magazine or on the web. MacNN is the closest it gets.
