He would go to his father's work even from age six, and his father introduced him to Steven Spielberg. He formed Kasso Inc., which is his producing company. On March 19, 2001, he won the gold star for best French director, for his film "Les Rivières Pourpres", and was appointed one of the jury members for the 2001 Cannes Film Festival.
In the César awards, his film "La Haine" won for Best Film , and he was nominated for Best Director, 1996. In 1995, he won Most Promising Male for his role in "Un héros très discret".
