Associative logic is the type of logic involved in discerning the connections between similar concepts, sort of like investigating the Trees by discerning the Forest to which they all belong and then comparing each type of Tree to all its fellow trees in the Forest. A person is using associative logic when she or he asks the question about topic ~x~: "What else is similar to topic ~x~?" Rightbrain thinking involves associative logic. The other type of logic is analytic logic.
