One of the twelve provinces of The Netherlands, which has a population of a little over 350.000 people.
Located in the southwest, a little south of Rotterdam (which is in the province of Zuid Holland). Capital is Middelburg, on the former island of Walcheren.

Zeeland consists of a number of former islands: Noord-Beveland, Schouwen-Duiveland, Sint Philipsland, Tholen, Walcheren and Zuid-Beveland, and a small stroke of land that is connected to Belgium, but which is actually part of the Netherlands. That part is called Zeeuws Vlaanderen.
The province is split up into those islands because of two major rivers: the river Schelde and the river Maas.
