A chillum is typically a straight cylinder about 10-15 centimeters (4-6 inches) long. The hole is a centimeter or two (half an inch) across, and the while thing is slightly narrower at the mouth end.
Chillums are made from a variety of materials, but hard wood or unglazed ceramic are the most common. Sometimes they are carved with decorative patterns.
