As in "Ooo, science fictiony!"
This is a term from Sam and Max: Surfin' the Highway, and like so many jokes from that book, it's stuck with me. As well as meaning the obvious "cool-tech-thing-looking" I think its definition could be extended to include pseudo-science-fiction (Y'know, fiction based around pseudo-science, like Star Trek) stuff, that is sort of like science fiction but somehow falls short of the real thing.
"Maybe if we reconfigure the nacelles to generate a static phased warp bubble, we could neutralize the subspace harmonics of the deflector array, thereby. . ."
"Mmm, science-fictiony."
