Whenever
Mario or
Luigi acquire a
fire flower in
Nintendo's series of
Super Mario Bros. video games, they gain the power to toss bouncing
fireballs at their enemies. Most enemies, such as the
Koopa Troopa or
Goomba, are easily defeated with this weapon, whereas creatures such as the
Buzzy Beetle are immune to its effect. While this skill was quite powerful and necessary in earlier games in the series, the ability has fallen into the ashcan over the years and has been replaced with
far more unique power-ups.
