HAL (person)

HAL - also an acronym for Hardware Abstraction Layer. On many types of upper-end computer systems (mainframes and mini computers) this layer seperates the hardware from the SAL (Software Abstraction Layer). In Windows NT, the HAL seperates the hardware from the operating system.
