An English singer primarily known from his days as the angry young lead singer of the seventies punk band The Sex Pistols, where he went by the name Johnny Rotten. After The Sex Pistols broke up in 1978, Lydon formed the experimental group Public Image Ltd and shortly thereafter married Nora, with whom he is still married.

Public Image Ltd was disbanded in the early nineties and in 1996, Lydon re-tours with the rest of The Sex Pistols in their "we're fat, forty and back!" tour.

In 1995 John Lydon collaborated with UK dance group Leftfield, providing vocals for their hit song Open Up from their albulm Leftism. Leftfield also provided a few remixes of his songs on Lydon's first solo albulm, Psycho's Path which was released in 1997.

In his autobiography, Lydon tells that he is unsure of his exact date of birth as his birth certificate was destroyed. Lydon gives the approximate date of January 31, 1956. He was born in England.
