Azad is a game from the Iain M. Banks book "The Player of Games". This game is meant to be a realistic simulation of life, so much so, that an entire empire (the Empire of Azad) uses it as a discovery engine to decide who most of it's major people should be - everything from minor priests, to the Emperor himself. Understandly, they're quite good at it.

Gurneu Morat Gurgeh (a citizen of the Culture) still manages to whoop their asses thoroughly though. (Hey, with a middle name (chosen name in the standard Culture naming nomenclature) like "Morat", what do you expect?)
