Seven tenths cocoa, this dark chocolate bar
With its swirl-bottomed surface the colour of tar
Is so moreish it's dangerous, the caffeine breeds shakes.
The half-bar I've eaten will keep me awake -
Already I'm jumpy, if happy enough.
With half of the bar left, it's gonna be tough
To resist the temptation to scarf the whole thing
Forgetting the jittering pain this could bring.
It sits there just looking and smelling so good,
I know that I shouldn't; I know that I could
Eat the whole thing in seconds, or else eke it out
For an hour or more, and enjoy it, no doubt...
At least till the chocolatey comedown kicks in
And reminds me that overindulgence is sin.
