1968. An
ensemble group, Tower of Power incorporates the basic
rhythm section, along with lead vocals, guitars, saxes, and even a complete
horn section (
trumpets and
trombones).
Some of the players that have remained constant over the years are bassist Francis Rocco Prestia, sax player Emilio Castillo, drummer David Garibaldi, lead vocalist Larry Braggs, and Jeff Tamelier on guitar.
Tower of Power has come up with some great original songs over the years, including What is Hip?, and Attitude Dance, two jazzy funk standby (often played) songs.
Tower of Power hails from the city of San Francisco, and aside from there long list of albums (live and otherwise), TOP tours up and down the West Coast constantly.
