Solitaire is also the name of an encryption algorithm using two synchronized card decks as one-time pads.
Source code and compiled versions for various platforms are avaliable @ counterpane.com.
This encryption scheme was first used in Cryptonomicon, and generated many problems with exporting the book due to U.S. cryptography laws, since the book contained the Solitare algorithm coded in Perl.

This algorithm was invented by Bruce Schneier.
