The
fiancee of
John Keats, though their
engagement was kept secret and not revealed until the publication of letters many years after their deaths.
Keats lived 1795-1821 and died of TB. Fanny Brawne lived 1800-1865. They met in 1818. Long after his death, she married again in 1833, and had three children.
Keats wasn't good with women but he was very much in love with Fanny and his letters revealed a lot. After his death she said she was patient and resigned, knew he had to die, and grieved he could not have died at home where his friends could be around to mourn him.
Her portrait shows her as very beautiful. She once reproached Keats for loving her only for her beauty.
