fallopian tubes: the left and right tubes of the uterus that connect the uppermost part of the uterine cavity bilaterally with the ovaries. They are so positioned as to be able to transport the egg released from the ovary to the uterine cavity for implanting. They are named for the Italian anatomist Gabriello Fallopius (1523-1562).
