A non-fiction book by George Orwell in which he describes the events he witnessed in Spain in 1936 and 1937 during the Spanish Civil War. He originally went to Spain to report on the war, but ended up volunteering with the Partido Obrero de Unificación de Marxista (Party of Marxist Unity) and fighting alongside them against the fascists. Of special note are his discussions of the camaraderie (despite the deprivation) he witnessed in the militias and socialist controlled areas of the country, and his analysis of the convoluted political situation.
