Danish director. Most possibly the true founder of the Dogme 95. Born 1956. Has made a bunch of prize nominated/winning short movies. Among his more known pieces are Europa from 1991, Breaking the Waves from 1996 and The Idiots from 1998. Several of those awarded prestigious prizes in Cannes. His tv-series Riget (The Kingdom) tied millions of viewers to the tv-screen in Denmark, and has made it to some of its neighbouring countries as well and secured him an unexpected and broad popularity. His latest project, Dancer in the Dark featuring Björk won the golden palms of Cannes in the year 2000.

Trier has a personality that can seem very crazy, but not in the Crazy Eddie manner. His entire way of thinking tends to scare people. This often results in his movies being excellent pieces of art.
