Grew up in Naperville, IL. Went to NNHS, class of '92.
Now a normal, 33-year-old happily married balding polo-wearing bastard homeowner living in suburban Tucson.
I chased my girlfriend (at the time) out here to the desert in 1995. That fizzled out pretty quickly, but I decided to stay. When not bothered by pesky things like my education, I spent much of the mid-to-late 1990's working, hacking, ingesting ridiculous amounts of caffiene, and being a radioactive flaming asshole (unintentionally) to alot of people in CS circles. In the meantime, I managed to pick up a Bachelors and get my name on a few whitepapers both academic and non-academic, including Wired Magazine, Linux Magazine, Linux Journal and CACM.
I met the woman of my dreams in '00, got hitched in '03, and picked up my current gig as a senior Unix systems administrator in '04. I'll likely retire in a few more years (if all goes well) and focus on charity work.
Chicago will always be a draw for me, but i'm here for good.. Arizona is a beautiful part of the country if you know where to put your bags down. Postcard sunsets, friendly people, and a beautifully rich history all wrapped up in a fantastic 110-degree jackpot wad of dry heat. You can't beat it. Trust me. I've tried. :)
You've probably looked me up on Google and found this page. That's okay, I look you up too. To give you a message in a bottle, If you're here reading this as a friend of mine, Hi. If you're somebody I once dated or knew from High School, yes I have bittersweet memories of you too.. Some good, some bad, some too awkward or embarassing to ever mention again. Some funny, some mature, some stupid, some wise. Looking for closure? You should know that I'm not angry. Trust that I remember exactly what you remember in the same circumstances, in the same level of detail. What was true for you was true for me. I know who you are and, more importantly, who you were...I know you're different, and I know parts of you probably haven't changed a bit. You know what's cool? Despite it all, I can still wish you a pleasant tip of the hat and salutation, from here. That should count for something. :)
