“I wish to dispel rumors of war with America right away. We are not in any danger from America. They have expressed no hostilities.
However, I do have some very grave news to report. Due to the unprecedented nature of the news, rumors are bound to circulate. I urge you to only listen to facts given to you by representatives of the Counsel.
As your chief elected official it is sometimes my duty to report bad news.
What we know is this: Early this morning, Jonathan Hamp passed away. Whether by accident or foul play-- listen! By accident or foul play we do not yet know. As of this moment, we have detained two citizens for questioning. Some of you may wish to know who, but as you will doubtlessly find out by word of mouth, I will refrain from mentioning their names. They are not considered criminals.
A forensic scientist will be arriving from Earth to answer the many questions we all still have about Mr. Hamp’s untimely passing. For those that knew him, he was hardworking, honest, and a good friend.
Services will be held next week in the Park.
