A type of
amino acid which breaks down into an intermediate of the
citric acid cycle, then converts into the sugar
glucose, as a means of entering the normal process of
carbohydrate metabolism in the body.
Glycine,
alanine,
arginine, and
ornithine are examples of glucogenic amino acids.
